Teaching Online - A Booming Business.

A lot has happened in the last 18 months. Millions of people around the world have found themselves unemployed as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic, but opportunities can present themselves in the most unlikely of places. Teaching for instance is an essential function in society that has prevailed during the pandemic. I know you're probably thinking, "but Jhovan, I'm not qualified to be a teacher, this cant help me" and my response to that is "you're probably half way there without knowing it". For years, many individuals have turned to teaching English as a secondary language (ESL) as a source of additional income and now more than ever given the global situation.

Getting started is pretty simple. Most employers would require you to be a native English speaker, to have at least a bachelors degree in any field of study and a teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) certificate. The certificate is awarded after completion of the course which you can do online. Some providers require a fee and some are completely free so you don't need to worry. Once you've completed your course and awarded your certificate, you're all set. You can then start applying for ESL jobs online and when things go back to normal you could even relocate to teach in places like Japan, China and much more.

Don't have a bachelors degree? Not a native English speaker? All hope is not lost. Some recruiters don't have these minimum requirements and will still consider you for a post granted that you are fluent in the language and pass their application tests. Teaching experience gives you a big boost in being selected, or any form of leadership, mentorship, coaching or similar experience you might have had. If you're from the US, Canada, or the UK you are extremely sought after for these teaching roles giving you competitive advantage over other applicants.

Opportunities are everywhere, we just have to be open to the vast possibilities.
