Personal Brand, Real Leadership

Personal Brand, Real Leadership

Last week, someone messaged me and wanted to know if I would do a session on personal branding. That question made me pause. We talk a lot about business branding, logos, websites, marketing strategies, but what about personal branding?

So, exactly what is your personal brand? What does it look like in practice?

Personal Branding Defined

Your personal brand is not just what you post online. It’s how people experience you, your values, your consistency, and the leadership promise you make whether you’re in the room or not.

It’s the story people tell about you when you’re not there to tell it yourself.

The Three R’s of Personal Brand & Leadership

  1. Relevance – Does your brand speak to the needs of today?

  2. Reliability – Do people know they can count on your word and your work?

  3. Resonance – Does your message connect with hearts, not just minds?

When you lead with these three R’s, your personal brand becomes a natural extension of your leadership.

A Few Simple Tips to Get Started

  • Define your leadership promise. Be clear about who you serve and the value you bring.

  • Show up consistently. Online and offline, in boardrooms and conversations, make sure the experience matches the message.

  • Collect proof. Share stories, testimonials, and results that show your brand in action.

  • Live it daily. Your brand isn’t a campaign, it’s a practice.

Final Thought

Leadership without a personal brand is like having a voice without an echo, it doesn’t carry. Building your brand isn’t about self-promotion; it’s about clarity, consistency, and credibility.
